Existing seat admission fees for MHT CET 2026 will continue

The Maharashtra State General Entrance Examination Cell has formally withdrawn its concept of increasing the seat acceptance rate for undergraduate engineering admissions for the 2026-27 academic session. Applicants participating within the centralized admission process (CAP) for first-year engineering programs will continue to pay the current fees, with no new fees applicable.

Problem with seat barriers and suggestions for treatment

The first consideration of the CET cell is intended to increase the efficiency of the ingestion technique and address the huge issue of seat blockade. Officials said that at some point in the last 12-month recruitment cycle, about 35,000 engineering posts were frozen, stalling the timely allotment of genuinely committed and eligible applicants. Noting that seat draw fees have remained unchanged for the past seven to eight years, the Authority had proposed a new, prioritized fee structure to encourage decisive choices through the consultation period.

The retracted mortgage referred to the layered crack shape. Under the proposed reform, candidates would have paid ₹1,000 even for opting for a seat in the first round of allocation, ₹2,000 for opting for an advanced seat within the second reform round and ₹three,000 for opting for additional reform in the third round. The aim has been to stop repeating seats in more than one round and to improve the average seat utilization.

Following a government order, the research was suspended

After addressing the concerns raised through stakeholders and following the Public Authority’s guidance, the CET cell decided not to reimplement the revised rate. In a valid notification, the authority indicated withdrawal, ensuring that applicants will continue to pay a uniform seat popularity fee of ₹1,000.

This fee is applicable irrespective of the counseling round in which they allocate their allotted engineering seats, retaining the standard price at some point in the entire centralized admission process.
