NMMSS Scholarship 2026-27
Students looking for financial support
for their school education have received more time to apply for the National
Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMSS) 2026-27. The Ministry of
Education has extended the application deadline to October 31, 2026.
The scholarship is designed to support
meritorious students from economically weaker families and encourage them to
continue their education after Class 8. Applications are handled through the National
Scholarship Portal (NSP).
What is the NMMSS Scholarship?
Under NMMSS, one lakh fresh
scholarships are awarded to selected students entering Class 9 every year.
The scholarship can continue up to Class 12, subject to the required
conditions.
The scholarship amount is ₹12,000
per year, or ₹1,000 per month. The amount is transferred to eligible
students through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system.
Who Can Apply for NMMSS 2026-27?
Students need to meet the scheme's
eligibility conditions before applying.
Generally, the
student should:
- Be
studying as a regular student in a Government, Government-aided or

₹3.5 lakh.
- Qualify

Students
studying in private schools, Kendriya Vidyalayas and Jawahar Navodaya

is not based only on the NSP application.
States and
